How to choose the shoes...

For most women a new pair of heels is the ultimate purchase. A beautiful shoe that can make you feel a million dollars even if you’re having a bad or bloated day. So how do you choose the perfect pair of shoes for your big day? Do you stick with white or opt for something a little glitzy or even a completely different colour? How do you decide? Here are a few pointers to help you select that perfect pair of pumps for that perfect big day.

Comfort…

Generally, a pair of heels and comfort don’t go hand in hand which is very unfortunate, especially if you want those fabulous heels you just couldn’t justify spending the money on otherwise.

The thing to keep in mind is that you’ll be in them for approximately 9 hours, so if you simply must have heels do try and wear them in months prior and invest in a little cushioning and a few band aids just to be safe!

Location...

Having a beautiful beach wedding? Getting married in the mountains or a park land area? If so then be sure to keep this as a priority. Walking in heels on the beach or a grassy and potentially damp ground is near impossible as you’ll be sinking the whole walk down the aisle, which is just simply awkward to watch.

However not to put a stop to purchasing your dream shoes, there are a few alternatives or options to help you ensure you still get those swanky heels you’ve always wanted. You can opt for a different pair of shoes other than heels for your ceremony e.g. flats or wedges then change into your heels for the reception or you can simply put those little heel stoppers on your heels to allow you to walk in them with ease and be a little less Bambi-like. Although please keep in mind flats, sandals or bare feet are ideal for a beach style ceremony and will certainly keep you and your maids happy.

Your style...

The style of your dress will certainly come into play when selecting your wedding shoes. Ideally if you’re wearing a vintage style dress you may want to opt for a simple, classic style shoe that will compliment your gown perfectly. On the other hand, if you’re going for something a little more modern then a bolder and even bright shoe is definitely an option. Always ensuring they work perfectly together so your outfit is flawless from top to bottom.

So all in all, be sure to take into account these few details when selecting those wedding day shoes. Whether they are heels, wedges or flats, be sure you feel comfortable and confident as you take those steps to becoming a wife.
